Short trip to Macau

Just an hour-boat-ride from Hong Kong that seemed to have taken us to another world. Or actually just home,back to Europe.

Although Macau is area with the highest density of population in the World (with more than 21,000 inhabitants per square km), it seems much less busy than Hong Kong.

Macau has been a Portuguese colony for centuries, so that Portuguese is still one of the official languages.

We walked through narrow aisles between the colonial houses and Portuguese pastry smelled from every corner.

It is the world’s biggest gambling market. The casino’s revenue is 5 times higher than in Las Vegas.

People go first on pedestrian crossings. For you, nothing new, but we haven’t experienced such a thing for almost a year in Asia!

Buddhism in rich countries differs from Buddhism in the poor ones. While in the poorer countries they light three prayer sticks in the temples, they light the whole pack here.

Beware of the map. When you go to Rotunda de Carlos da Maia, you can find out that the rotunda in Portuguese does not necessarily mark a historic building, but just an ordinary roundabout.
